How to buy built in wardrobes

A lot of people are unsure of where to start with commissioning fitted furniture such as wardrobes and alcove cupboards. It’s not as simple as picking something in a shop and having it delivered. There are often a lot of options to choose from without much explanation as to what exactly you need or how budgets will vary.

Here is our guide on the general process of buying fitted furniture from us.

1. Contact us with your ideas

You have decided you would like an alcove cupboard or a run of bedroom wardrobes. Get in touch to let us know what you’re thinking of. Most often we will ask if you can give us rough measurements and have a conversation with you about design ideas. We can provide guidance on design & discuss options.

2. We’ll provide an estimate & take measurements

In most cases we are able to provide a free initial estimate by email.  From there we can arrange a time to visit your home to take measurements. This is also good chance to discuss design details such as style, which woods to use & finishes.

3. You will be sent design drawings.

After taking measurements and an idea of the design, we will provide drawings for you to get a clear idea of what the final fitted furniture will look like. We do ask for a holding fee of £200 before we provide finished drawings – which is later taken out of the final cost.

From there we can make alterations to the designs at this stage to make sure we have everything right for you.

4. Your furniture gets made in our workshop.

Once the design has been finalised, we take a deposit payment so we can get to making your furniture. We will keep you updated on progress & give you a fitting date that is convenient for you.

5. The wardrobes are delivered and fitted.

In the case of free standing furniture, it is just a case of arranging delivery, but with built in projects there will be some time working in your home to install it.

We give our customers an indication of how long we expect installation to take in our estimates, and ensure that this is done in the least intrusive way possible.

6. We can give you advice how to look after your furniture & provide after care.

We can give helpful tips on how to clean & look after your furniture – although there really isn’t a great deal of maintenance needed on our furniture.

We use high quality materials and hardware, to make sure that your new wardrobes have a long life ahead of them.
