Here are some bespoke oak wardrobes we fitted recently in North Somerset, close to our workshop just outside of Bristol. The wardrobe cabinets have oak veneered interiors and solid oak dovetailed drawers.

It is a popular choice to have real wood veneered wardrobes instead of going for plywood or painted internals. Not only do they look great, but our wardrobe cabinets are also extremely strong as they are joined together with solid wood tenons to make sure they will last a lifetime.

There are many different wood veneers to choose from. We often make wardrobes with either oak or walnut interiors.

How deep should wardrobes be?

This is a question we are often asked. If you want to have hanging space inside your wardrobe then the minimum internal depth should be 55cm. We find that 60cm internals is best to ensure that there is enough space for your clothes to hang.

When fitting wardrobes into an alcove, this can often mean that the cabinets extend out past the face of the chimney breast. In this case, we make sure that the wardrobes are fitted with a return on to the chimney wall, which ties them in perfectly and gives a beautiful finished look. At Arbor Furniture we take pride in our work – making furniture that is tailored to your home and built to last.
